Intel’s Arc Pro lineup has been quietly building momentum, and the B70 might be the card that finally gets people to pay attention.
Launched on March 25th, the Arc Pro B70 is Intel’s new flagship workstation GPU and the first card built around the full BMG-G31 die — the bigger Battlemage chip that’s been rumored for a while now. It runs on TSMC’s N5 process with the Xe2 microarchitecture, same as the B50 and B60, just with significantly more of everything.
The Specs
32 Xe cores, 256 XMX engines, 32 ray tracing units. Peak clock is 2800 MHz, FP32 compute lands at 22.94 TFLOPS, and Intel rates it at 367 INT8 TOPS for AI. The reference card is a 230W part on a single 8-pin connector, but partner designs can go anywhere from 160W to 290W depending on how they cooled it.
The big number is memory. 32GB of GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus, 608 GB/s of bandwidth, ECC supported. Four display outputs, 8K at 120Hz over HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort. API support covers the full modern stack — DX12 Ultimate, Vulkan 1.3, OpenGL 4.6, OpenCL 3.0 — and it has two codec engines handling AV1, H.264, H.265, and VP9 encode and decode.
The reference card is a dual-slot design at 10.5 inches long, 1020 grams.
Who Actually Needs This
The honest answer is local AI inference and professional workstation work. That 32GB is the whole pitch. More VRAM means larger context windows, bigger models running fully in GPU memory, and less time waiting on system RAM to bail you out. Intel also supports multi-GPU configurations on Linux, so you can stack multiple B70s if a single card isn’t enough.
For traditional workstation tasks — CAD, rendering, architecture, simulation, video work — Intel has ISV certifications in progress for the major software packages in those categories.
Price and Availability
The Intel reference card is available now starting at $949. Partner cards from ASRock, Gunnir, Maxsun, Sparkle, and others are out alongside it, with pricing varying by design.
